I know I don't post much, and when I do, it's not usually anything of any importance.
But anyway, I'd just like to thank all of you for the last 8+ years. It's been a real trip and I'm very thankful I met all of you, even if it's only through reading and writing.
I'm leaving for Indonesia on the 29th of July, for good. I'll probably come back occasionally, but I'm pretty much going to be living (and working) in Indonesia from now on.
So this basically means one out of two things: 1) God goes out of his way to make gay people, or 2) God made a boo-boo and put the wrong brain in the wrong gender
Either way, for the people who still stubbornly believes that being gay is a lifestyle choice, the only thing really left to say is:
I think I'm overworking my body, physically speaking. I can't believe how complex even exercising has become these days.
Btw, I know quoting yourself is bad form, but I really thought this was funny when I said it in reference to Gundam (and Anime in general) being in HD: "I dunno, watching someone being emo in HD seems like such a waste."
So, over the holidays I ordered an HP DV6700 notebook to replace my aging Dell. My brother found a discount on it, so for about $1100, I got a laptop that should have lasted me a while.
I got it on the 31st, and it was fine and dandy.
Then I noticed that sometimes it said "Plugged in, not charging." That is a serious issue. I googled it. Replaced battery. Nothing. Changed the plug. Nothing.
Went to HP website. Chat with tech support. Now I get to send it back to them, and it might take up to 2 weeks, and to top it off, they might have to reformat the notebook.
I know only a few of you use Zbrush, let alone Zbrush 3, but here's a few tips;
Split up your mesh using Polygroups, then go under Subtool and use Split; they'll separate the mesh based on the Polygroups.
If you want to split your mesh even further, use Polygroups on a Subtool layer, then use GrpSplit to separate it.
Turn off Layers before saving to reduce file size. Seriously. Even if you're saving at the lowest resolution, make sure all your layers are turned off.
Went and watched Transformers yesterday. Not as bad as I expected, but not as good as I wanted. We got seats pretty close to the screen, so sometimes it was hard to see what was going on (camera work needs improvement too), but I think it's a solid B-something.
OMG, Zbrush 3 is a modeler's dream. I know most of you won't get this, but it's amazing.
-Separates objects into layers based on polygroups -Automatic material/shaders for your mesh -Ability to import multiple meshes into a single tool -Ability to DELETE parts of a tool -Ability to have multiple tools open AT THE SAME TIME. If you import 2 or more tools, you can just click on the previous tool to move to it. -A FLATTEN brush for sculpting hard surfaces. This just makes me so happy.
Of course, the tradeoffs are it's buggy as hell, none of Zbrush 2's plugins work on it, and that means no normal maps. But it is an amazing program.
How bored was I during this last month? Take your pick.
I was so bored I: - Figured out how to make Dirge of Cerberus a GOOD game. I like a challenge. - Figured out how to make a Final Fantasy Tactics MMO. - Laid out plans for an evolutionary game. Literally. You evolve your creature as you level.
Desktop crashed. Keep getting BSOD with error "DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL"
Seems to be either video card problem(unlikely, haven't gotten new drivers, and never crashed with old ones) or both my RAM chips went kaput(more likely). Taking it to the shop will probably cost me at least $60 and anywhere between several days to about a week. POS.
So, my mom wants to go to Canada for about a week during my break
Filling out the visa application, I come across this little gem:
In periods of either peace or war, have you ever been involved in the commission of a war crime or crimes against humanity such as: willful killing, torture, attacks upon, enslavement, starvation or other inhumane acts committed against civilians or prisoners of war; or deportation of civilians?
I probably shouldn't have, but I just spent the last few days rushing through all of Code Geass. It's like the messed up love child of Gundam (and I mean that in a good way), and Death Note. It's so ridiculously messed up it's insane. War, murder, racism, segregation, societal collapse... And character designs by CLAMP, riding giant robots. Good times.
